Persuasive Writing for Lawyers

Course overview: Helen Gunnarsson, an Illinois attorney who has written numerous articles for bar association publications, will teach lawyers how to use the writers' craft to persuade people. The course will explore persuasive writing in client communications, correspondence with other attorneys, court filings, inter-office staff memos, and articles intended for the public. The instructor will review writing techniques attorneys may have learned in college and law school, and will show how to adapt those techniques in the context of an ethical and businesslike law practice.
