Pro-Bono for the Soul

Course overview: Margaret Benson, Executive Director of Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation, and a leading authority in Illinois on Pro-Bono work by lawyers, will show lawyers how public service legal work can benefit them, their clients, and society. The course is aimed at lawyers in all types of legal practice, and at lawyers who do not regularly practice law. It will cover the practical concerns lawyers have such as how to fit pro-bono work into their practice, how to avoid expanding their legal liability, and where to get help if the pro-bono case gets to be burdensome. The course will also showcase different types of pro-bono opportunities.
