Sex Abuse Victims1 Hour Illinois MCLE Professionalism (ethics) Credit Course overview: Barbara Blaine, an attorney who founded the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests will help attorneys learn how to communicate effectively and with sensitivity with clients who may have been sexually abused as children. Attorneys will learn how they can represent victims despite their distrust of courts, lawyers, and other authority figures. They will also be taught about various other issues that affect victims' ability to obtain legal representation and due process. The course discusses the unusual ways that victims of sex abuse may relate to and affect attorneys and how attorneys can maintain professional boundaries and personal mental health while representing these clients. |
